We are excited to offer dog training at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all solution. Your dog is an individual, and your life is unique. That’s why our approach is built on a customized, compassionate framework designed for real-world success. It all starts with these three key ideas:

Positive Reinforcement
Positive reinforcement dog training means we introduce (add) a positive stimulus (treats, pets, play) when our dogs give us a desirable behavior. This increases the likelihood that the behavior will be repeated.

Every Dog is Unique
Each dog we train as an individual, assessing how life experiences, health, and biological/breed fulfillment affect their training journey.

Individual Lifestyles
We take into account different lifestyles applying compassion, patience, and understanding. These can work wonders for both the owners and dogs.

Meet Our Trainer, Maryam
Maryam is certified through Animal Behavior College (ABC) with a Bachelor’s degree in English from Temple University. She is also a Fear Free Certified Training Professional and registered with The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT).
Maryam’s passion for training dogs was fostered through her relationship with raising her first puppy, Link, an adorable Beagle. Link changed her life for the better in so many ways! She realized that puppy-raising is an art and that owners must prepare to set their dogs up for success throughout their lives. This is a passion borne out of experience, trial, and error. The more she learned, the more she realized that training is not as intuitive as it may sometimes seem.
